Creeping Barnillus Flower Empty
PostSubject: Creeping Barnillus Flower   Creeping Barnillus Flower EmptyWed Oct 05, 2011 12:21 am

Name: Creeping Barnillus Flower (also known as Nuisance flowers or Followers)

Genders: 2 (though you really can’t tell the difference)

Age: 5 to 10 years old once in their adult state

Appearance: Plant/Humanoid
They grow to be about 2 to 4 ft. and look like small children. There arms and legs are a green color. When they are mature enough they will grow flower(s) on the tops of their heads during the spring and summer times. The flowers on their head is the same color as their hair. (they have several colors except for white, grey, and brown.)

Any alternate forms: In the winter time their hair color will start to whiten. When spring is near the hair will return to their natural color. When the sun sets the Barnillus Flower rolls up into a ball and sleeps (not awakening till sunrise). When in danger the Barnillus Flower has a defense mechanism of retractable thorns (will be explained in strengths).
Egg and Adult states will be explained in the history.

Biological differences: The Barnillus Flower has a very different anatomy then humans. They do not have a heart, intestines, bladder, kidneys, liver, pancreases, or human reproductive parts (I’m not going to name them.). They do not have hands put rather a plant like arm (Kind of like a Snover from Pokemon). They do however have a brain, lungs, mouth, and stomach (though the stomach is use to store emergency water and not to digest food). In order to obtain food the Barnillus Flower uses photosynthesis. They also bleed water instead of blood.

History of Species: A famous scientist called Barnillus discovered these creatures 300 years ago in the past. They have a very interesting life cycle. First a Barnillus Flower will send out seeds that are then transported by air. The seeds are then planted and grow into a large plant. Inside the plant, a new Barnillus flower is growing. Barnillus described it as being in the womb of a mother and called this phase of their development the Egg state. They will stay in there for about 9-14 months. After those month have past they hatch out of their eggs and start their Adult state. Even though they are newly hatched, they have the instinct ability to walk and find water (a key ingredient in Photosynthesis). They also have a weird tendency of following animals especially humans. Barnillus concluded that this was because they were attracted to sources of carbon dioxide. Some have even been able to copy human speech if they follow them frequently enough. They will continue to follow the animal or human until the sun sets at which point their bodies shut off and they go to sleep. When they reach about 5 years old they will began growing flowers on their head. Pollinators such as bees or butterflies will come and pollinate these flowers and fertilize the seeds. At the end of summer if any seeds were fertilized the wind takes them and plants them elsewhere and thus continuing the cycle.

Powers: N/A

Strengths: The one and only defense mechanism (other than just running away or give them a punch or a kick) is their retractable thorns. These thorns are located everywhere on their body. The thorns carry a poison. It is only lethal for small animals such as squirrels or rabbits. For bigger creatures such as dogs, or humans it causes temporary dizziness, blurry vision, and in rare cases it can cause unconsciousness.

Weakness: Their biggest weakness is night time as they go to sleep when the sun sets. This will still happen to them even if they are indoors. While they are asleep they cannot move on their own. Darkness is another weakness. They will still fall asleep in a completely dark room. If there is a light source such as a lamp or candle they will still be awake (as long as the sun outside hasn’t set) but their movement will slow down.

Drawbacks: They are draw to people and animals because they are drawn to their breath. They bleed water instead of blood. And they go to sleep and can’t move when the sun sets.
